Satish Vasant Alekar, popularly known as Satish Alekar who is a Marathi Playwright. Not only this, but he is such a great actor, and also has worked as a theatre director. He hails from Delhi, India, and grew up in Pune where he got his education and later, did BS from Fergusson College. Then, he did a Master’s in Biochemistry from the University of Pune. He has made himself the best and successful theatre director and has worked on several projects. He is also known for his membership of Theatre Academy of Pune.

Career

One of the most influential men, Satish Alekar took the start of his career with first stage performance when he performed as an actor in college events. It was the first play written and directed by himself. The play “Jhulta Pool” was directed in the year 1969. Later, he frequently worked on many plays as a director and also wrote various plays. Fortunately, his dramas started to be popularized by reputed playwrights which led him to success and much recognition.

He also taught at the theatre and directed many plays, one-act plays in Marathi. While some of his most popular plays have been translated and produced in many languages, like; Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati, and others. Some of his Marathi plays are Micki Aani Memsaheb, Mahanirvan, Mahapoor, Ek Zulta Pool, Bus stop, and others are worth sharing.

Later, Satish Alekar’s dramas have been added in the National Anthologies which was published in the year 2000 to 2001 by the National School of Drama and the most famous Sahitya Akademi. He got many fellowships in the honor of his uncountable achievements.
